RAYMOND OPPER JR
Raymond Opper Jr., 62, 811 ½ Chicago Ave., Wausau, died Wednesday, March 8, 1989, at the Mount View Care Center, Wausau.
He was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Brokaw, the son of Raymond Opper Sr., and the late Lilian (Paulus) Opper. He married Jeanette Smith on March 20, 1948, in Wausau. She survives.
He worked at the Wausau Paper Mills for 43 years. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a ski jumper in his early years. He was an avid musky fisherman and deer hunter. He was a member of Bill's Musky Club.
Survivors, besides his wife and father, include a stepmother, Mintha, Brokaw; six sons, Dennis, Pennsylvania, Sigmund, Wausau, Clayton, Brokaw, Brian, Merrill, Shawn, Wausau, and Raymond III, Aniwa; three daughters, Mrs. John (Karen) Otto, Mrs. Kenneth (Kay) Krejci and Mrs. Milton (Marsha) Schultz, all of Wausau; four brothers, Gilbert, Wausau, Leroy, Florida, Kenneth, Wausau, and Allen, Merrill; four sisters, Violet Lamere, Wausau, Iren Blunt, Milwaukee, Lou Ann Spanton, Wausau, and Barbara Ermeling, Schofield and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Colleen, and a grandson, Jeremy.
Services will be at Brainard Funeral Home, Wausau, with the Rev. Gary Grote, of the First English Lutheran Church, Wausau, officiating. Burial will be in the Restlawn Memorial Park. (Wausau Daily Herald, WI-Fri, Mar 10, 1989)
