Luther Sherman STOCKBERGER, 74, of six miles southeast of Argos, died at 1 p.m. Sunday at Woodlawn hospital, where he had been a patient since Friday from a heart ailment. He had lived 25 years at Ladysmith, Wis., six years at Canton, O., and nine years on a farm near Argos. He was born Dec. 30, 1881, in Van Wert County, O., to Alva and Mary STOCKBERGER, and was married to Jennie LOWMAN, May 14, 1908. He retired from farming a few years ago. Suriving are his wife, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Opal WHITTENBERGER, Ladysmith, Wis.; Mrs. Ruth HEIM, Canton, O.; four sons, Charles and Grant [STOCKBERGER], both of Canton; Frank [STOCKBERGER], South Bend, and Lowell [STOCKBERGER], of the U. S. Air Force, stationed in Japan; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Pearl UMBAUGH, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Grossman funeral home, Argos, with the Rev. Edward BOASE officiating. Burial will be in Richland Center cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
