ESCONDIDO -- Richard Anthony "Tony" Buckman, a long time Escondido resident, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2011. Tony was born on June 14, 1932 in Inglewood, Calif. He served aboard the USS Piedmont during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Buckman married Donna Castle on June 5, 1954. Tony worked in the construction field for more than 40 years retiring as the President of Chamac Inc. Mr. Buckman was an avid Chargers fan and also enjoyed spending time sailing on the ocean. He loved his family and was known for his outgoing personality which inspired those around him. Mr. Buckman was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in San Marcos and a member of the Escondido Rotary Club. He is survived by his wife Donna; children, Teresa Buckman, Anthony "Tony" Buckman, Jeannette (Jonathan) Rothschild, Holly (Steve) Dodd; grandchildren, Jessica (Shawn) LePine, Melissa Danforth, Sasha Dodd, Amanda Buckman, Chante Dodd, Candace (Jaime) Lopez, Anthony Marks; and great- grandchildren, Jack, David, Benjamin, and Harmony. He was preceded in death by brother, Jim Buckman. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2011 at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary in Escondido. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in San Marcos, with the Committal to follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido.
