James Edwin "Jim" Greer, 79, of East Ridge, TN, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2011 following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in 1932 to Dalton & Wilma Greer. Jim was a self-employed insurance agent for more than 45 years and proudly served his country with the 136th Infantry at Fort Benning, GA. He was preceded in death by his sons, Steven and Gregory Greer, father, Dalton Greer, and sister, Betty Greer Miller.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Janice Montooth Greer; mother, Wilma Greer of East Ridge, TN; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary & Trish Greer, & Derrick & Shawn Greer; son, Tommy Greer; daughter, Candice Greer; grandchildren, Christopher, Marisa, & Aaden Greer; great-grandchildren, Destiny & Katie Greer; brothers and sisters, Billie Greer Friddell, Peggy Greer Talley, Martha Greer, & Earl Greer; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. graveside at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Billy Dean officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, Rossville, GA.
