Neal McFadzean, 70, died Tuesday at his home in Colorado Springs. Funeral services were held at Pioneer United Church Thursday afternoon with Rev. Lee Corey officiating. Del Norte # 150 Masonic rites were held at the cemetery.
Born in Denver April 29, 1899, the only son of Dr. John M. and Rena McFadzean, he grew up in Del Norte and graduated with the 1917 high school class. He went on to Cornell University, graduating in 1922. For four years, he was employed by American Steel Foundry in the east. He returned to Del Norte in the late 1920s because of his father’s poor health, and operated the sheep, cattle and ranch for his father, later purchasing the same. Retiring in the 1960s he sold the ranch and moved to Colorado Springs.
He was active in politics was DeMolay chapter dad; member of Masons and the Presbyterian Church. He was a WWI veteran. In college, he was in the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.
Neal and Miss Ella Lawless of Chatsworth, Illinois were married in Tucson, Arizona January 12, 1927. During Neal’s illnesses, Mrs. McFadzean took over the running of the ranch.
Survivors are his wife; two sisters, Flora Hughes, Cleveland, Ohio, and Jean Bond, Albuquerque.
