Surrounded by her family, Leila Josephine Henry Gott passed away Friday, Nov 18, 2011, from complications of pneumonia.

Leila was born the fourth of five children to George and Elsie Henry on July 17, 1929, in Twin Falls, Idaho. As "Rock Creeker's" life was not always easy for the Henry family during Depression Era America and like most young people of that era, Leila learned the value of hard work, thrift and perseverance in the face of adversity through daily practice. All were virtues that framed her approach to adult life and values that she later passed on to her children. But most prominent of all of Leila's values was her love of life. She could hook a fish, shoot a deer and pluck a chicken all in the same day. She could then turn the same into a scrumptious meal that would cause young folks from miles around to suddenly appear at the Gott dinner table, with or without an invitation. Leila never knew a stranger and no one ever left her table hungry.

Leila was an outstanding student at Kimberly High School, graduating near the top of her class in 1947. Leila met and married the love of her life, Glenn Gott in 1949, and unto this union were born four children, Janet (Gary) Eller of Twin Falls, Glenda (Rick) Skeen of Twin Falls, Bruce Gott of Lewiston and Judy (Dick) Young of Kimberly. The Gott's built their Kimberly home on Taylor Street with callused hands and the sweat of their brow, all while Glenn worked as a brick mason and Leila chased her growing brood. Leila later worked as the lunchroom supervisor for the Kimberly School District and later as a secretary for the Twin Falls County Sheriff's office and again as secretary for the Kimberly School District. Rare was the child attending school in Kimberly during the '60s and beyond who was unfamiliar with "Mama" Leila's lunchroom delicacies. Only Leila could serve mashed potatoes with an extra helping of love and a dollop of sound advice: "Eat up and get out! Make something of yourself!"

Leila was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Keith Henry and Walter Henry; and her sister, Ada Albin. Her husband of 62 years; her four children; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Henry of Tucson, Ariz., and Albert Henry of Sacramento, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews survive Leila.

The funeral for Leila will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nove. 28, at Reynolds Funeral Chapel, 2466 Addison Ave. E. in Twin Falls, with Pastor Dale Metzger officiating. Friends and family are encouraged to donate to their favorite children's charity in lieu of flowers.

Services are under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Chapel in Twin Falls.
