Ila "Tookei" Elizabeth Snyder, 76, of Unionville, Mo., died Tuesday (March 3, 1998) in the Milan Care Facility in Milan Mo.
The daughter of Clarence W. and Alena Bradshaw Carter, she was born Dec. 23, 1921, in Colorado Springs, Colo. She married John Pickering Jr.
She grew up on the family farm south of Hartford, Mo., and attended the Bradshaw School. She lived and worked in the Kansas City area until she remarried and moved to Belleville, Ill., where she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper of several years. In 1961 she obtained a degree in nursing and practiced nursing. She moved to Unionville, Mo., in 1968 and worked for Dr. C. L Judd at the Monroe Clinic, then at the Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Mo., then in Camdenton, Mo., until her retirement. She returned to Unionville in 1985. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Unionville.
She is survived by one son, William D. Pickering of Unionville; one sister Willmena Furgason of Hartford; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and an infant daughter Rena Catherine Pickering.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday (Marcy 7, 1998) in the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville. Burial will be in the Thompson Cemetery near Hartford, Mo.
