CUMMINGS, James C. - Of Flushing, age 76, died Friday, November 7, 2003 at McLaren Hospital, after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer. A celebration of his life will be held at 11AM Monday, November 10, 2003 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Robert Burchell officiating. Visitation will be held from 3-8PM Sunday. A memorial service conducted by the Genesee Lodge No. 174, F.&A.M. will be held at 7PM Sunday at the funeral home. Burial in Flint Memorial Park with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #5666. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mike Stevens family or Shriners Crippled Children Hospital. Mr. Cummings was born in Flint, on May 22, 1927, the son of James and Emma Cummings. He resided in the Flint area his entire life. He married Carrie Respecki on August 7, 1948 in Angola, Indiana. Mr. Cummings served in the World War II and Korean War. He was a 33 Degree Mason, Past President of the Fenton Shrine Club and a member of Oasis Sporters. He retired after 20 years as a respected insurance agent at AAA Insurance, and then worked 10 years for Diversified Insurance Services. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Carrie; sons, Gary Cummings and wife Susan, Randall Cummings, all of Flushing; sister, MaryLou MacArthur of Davison; 4 grandchildren, James, Michael, Corissa and Ashlee; many nieces, nephews and his special dog, Angel. Mr. Cummings was preceded in death by his parents; son, James; sisters, Juanita Peter, Anna Mae Rohmann and Agnes Burchell.
