He was the son of Alfred Taylor and Ora L Dierlam Robertson and grandson of Julian Octavious Robertson and Mary Taylor, descendant of William Bradford of the Mayflower Compact. He married Edna Geanell Loyd, with whom he had three children, Betty, Rita and Mandy. He next married Francis Lee Brown.
