Born on March 30th, 1922, in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Marguerite (Danenhower) Meddaugh. She attended the Poughkeepsie Schools.
Eleanor married Raymond R. Hawley on October 29, 1939 at St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie, and he predeceased her on January 12, 1990.
Eleanor was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by a son; Raymond Hawley, Jr. and his wife Jenny Purcell Hawley of Tampa, FL, six daughters; Priscilla McComb and her husband, Dennis of Rotonda, FL, Kathryn Hobson and her husband James of Rhinebeck, Doris Hawley of Rhinebeck, Barbara Hansen of Athens, NY, Susan Miller and her husband James of Rhinebeck, and Marguerite Hawley of Norwood, NY, three sisters; Mildred Baker of Poughkeepsie, Doris Grey of Poughkeepsie, and Phyllis Croshier of Englewood, FL , twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, along with many nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Christopher Hansen, a great grandson, David McComb, and a sister, Irene Walker

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011 at Church of the Good Shepherd in Rhinebeck. Interment will be in Rhinebeck Cemetery, Rhinebeck.
