He entered medical school at Drake University in Iowa. He completed his internship in Phoenix, Ariz.His first practice was as the only doctor in Parker, Ariz., and later Needles, Calif., before moving to Susanville, in 1969. He held a private pilot's license and was an approved FAA medical examiner for many years. "Doc" practiced in the Susanville area until retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Rotary Club, and received the Paul Harris Fellow Award, moving from the area in 1992. He is survived by his wife, Martha of 58 years; sons Bill and wife Vicki of Lake Havasu City, and Bob and wife Thelma of Janesville, Calif.; daughters, Marsha Gardnerof Standish, Calif., and Marla Gomez and husband Gary of Janesville; 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Memorial Services were held August 2, in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
