Albert Peter (Pete) Jensen, 84, of Bedford, passed away Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at his home.
He was born Wednesday, March 17, 1926, in Norfolk, a son of the late Albert P. Jensen and Erma Titsel Jensen Mott.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Maymie McGinnis Jensen and a special friend, Red Crouch.
He retired from Sam Moore Furniture after 39 years of service and was proud to have worked for three Sams: Uncle Sam, Sam Moore and Sam Walton.
Surviving are his daughters, Brenda Jensen Thompson and husband, Ted, of Taylors, S.C., and Elizabeth "Betty" Jensen, of Forest.
The family requests those wishing to make memorials consider donations to either the National Association of U.S.S. LCS, C/O Dennis Steinberger Sec., 7345 W. Lakeside Drive, Littleton, CO 80125, or Main St. United Methodist Church, 212 E. Main St., Bedford, VA 24523.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at Main Street United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Les Trail and the Rev. Dr. Carl H. Douglass officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at Updike Funeral Home.
Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
