Barbara E. Alexander, age 69, of Gardiner died Monday, August 8, 2011 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Arden Hill Campus, Goshen, NY.
Mrs. Alexander was born April 7, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late Charles Birch and Wilhelmena (Burton) Chitty. She married Allen T. Alexander August 3, 1963 in Queens, NY.
She was a fighter which was evident by her allowing her oncologist to help give an extra week by trying extraordinary measures, in fact, his quote stated "she is a lady" when asked why he went to such extremes.
She was retired from New Rochelle Public School System, New Rochelle, NY in 2005.
She is survived by her Mother, Wilhelmena (Burton) Chitty of New Paltz, NY; husband: Allen T. Alexander at home; and one son: Oji Alexander of New Orlean, LA; Daughter and Daughter-in-law, Stacey and Damarise Alexander-Mann of Albany, NY; Granddaughters, Zada and Anya Alexander-Mann of Albany, NY; Step-Mother Christine Birch of Long Island, NY; Step-Brother Eric Straker of Long Island, NY; Brother; Charles Birch of New Mexico; Dear Friend, Betty Briggs of Brewster, NY; Dear Friend, Helen Levine of Rye, NY; dearest cousin, Midlred Jones of Mt.
