Zelma I. Baker, 94 of Pender died at Pender Care Centre on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 1995. Funeral services were held Monday at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Pender. Rev. Douglas OVerly officiated at the funeral and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Pender. Munderloh Funeral Home of Pender was In charge of arrangements. The former Zelma Barnes was born Aug. 31. 1900 at Fitsville, Ohio to Charles and Mary Bell (Browning) Barnes. She attended and graduated from Bancroft High School and attended Wayne Normal College at Wayne. She taught school after college. On Febr. 23, 1925 she was united In marriage to George Baker. They made their home on a farm east of Pender. George died in 1978, and Zelma lived on the farm until two years ago when she moved into Pender Care Centre. Zelma is survived by two sons, Alvin and wife Carol and Marvin and wife Norene, all of Pender; two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and one sister. Mildred Weston of Imperial. She was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth; one grandson, Steven; one brother, Delbert; and one sister, Treva Tyrell.
