The son of the late Norman Sr. and Aretta Baxter Anderson, he was born on January 24, 1932 in Newburgh, NY.
Norman was employed at West Point as a plumber until he retired in 1987. He then worked for the Cornwall Central School District for 10 years.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1954 after 2 years of service in Korea. He was a member of several organizations, including the American Legion, VFW and the Quassaick Fire Engine Co. in New Windsor where he was a Color Guard. In the past few years he made many new friends by joining the Armed Forces Breakfast Club.
Norman was a fun loving person who loved people. His family is proud of his accomplishments, and he will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife Betty at home; sons Danny and Michael of Cornwall; one grandson, Brian, whom he loved so much. He also leaves behind Brian's mother Susan and husband Ken Kijewski; sister-in-law Rose Herrmann of New Jersey; numerous nieces and nephews; and family friends Lucille Ferraro and her daughter Lauren of Cornwall.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at 1:00pm at Cornwall United Methodist Church, 196 Main St., Cornwall, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norman's memory to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
