Jacob M. Shorter, who died near Bloomingburgh, Sunday, would have been 96 years of age had he lived until July.
His death occurred at the residence of his nephew, Samuel D. Shorter, where he had made his home for the past two years. General disability was the cause of death. Deceased was born and all his long life was spent near Hopewell. He was a member of the M.E. Church. The parsonage at Bullville was given by Mr. Shorter while the church in that village was a present from Mrs. Shorter, whose maiden name was Mary Hill. She died 25 years ago."
