Ruth was my grandmother on my mom's side (Beverly McCaslin) and her nickname was "Bonnie" in which I have a sister named after. She also was the mother of Jackie Cochran and Spud Jacobs. In my childhood days, I knew her as Grandma Fancher. Grandpa Fancher died and a year later, she married Harry Foster, who still resides in Martinsville. She was a wonderful grandmother, mother, sister and wife who is loved and sadly missed by all. May you rest in peace.

"Grandma's Cookies"
I always loved the smell of grandma's kitchen
The smell of cookies baking always made me grin
There would be flour on the floor and on my toes
And even on my face where she squeezed my nose
It seems she was always in there baking something
And when she was you could hear her voice sing

I can remember when she'd come to visit our house
And smelling the scent of her perfume on her blouse
Because she would always give me a kiss and a big hug
Wrapping her arms around me like a little bug in a rug
And if it was Christmas time she'd bring a gift or two
And say Debbie come here honey, this present is for you

Well now that I'm grown and you have gone away
I'm wishing the past was here again so I could say
Bake some more cookies grandma and make me smile
And bring them to my house so we can visit for awhile
I won't keep you long, just one more big hug and kiss
To show you how much I love you and your face I miss
