Christopher Columbus Kitchens was the son of James Matlock Kitchens Sr. and Sally Brown Kitchens. He lived on the old Jasper- Taylors Ferry road about 2 miles west of Parrish. He was a charter member of the Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church and in July 1849 he was ordained a deacon of the church. He married Sarah Ann Taylor and they had 8 children.
