Uthel D. Ashe was born February 16, 1926 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late Doss W. Ashe and Emma Ashe Watson McClain. He was raised by his stepfather Bruce McClain because his father died when Uthel was 4 years old. Uthel departed this life on June 7, 2014 at his home in Stantonville, TN at the age of 88 Years, 3 Months, 22 Days.He was united in marriage to Nora Mae Burks on February 15, 1947.Mr. Ashe was a member of Union Grove Methodist Church. He was a United States Army World War II Veteran. He served in the 3rd Army Tank Unit. Uthel retired from Brown Shoe Company in Selmer after 39 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Uthel was heavily involved in Little League for many years and coached two generations of his family. He was a wonderful gardener and loved to hunt and fish.He is survived by his wife of 67 years Nora Mae Ashe of Stantonville, TN; two daughters, Judy Hammons of Stantonville, TN, Sherry Eno and husband Buddy of Cordova, TN; a son, Stanley Ashe and wife Jeanie of Killen, AL; six grandchildren, Jonathan Hammons, Ashley Ainsworth, Rachel Brinkmeyer, Brooke Hammons, Andrew Ainsworth, Jordan Ashe; a sister, Evelyne Sanders of Selmer, TN; 6 Great Grandchildren; a host of extended family and friends.In addition to his parents and stepfather, Mr. Ashe was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Jean Ainsworth on Feb. 12, 2008; a sister, Marie Richards; a brother, Edward Ashe.
