H. Sonnenburg, 67, Pioneer of Newton, Dies on Homestead

Herman Sonnenburg, 67, a pioneer resident of the town of Newton passed away last night at the family homestead. He suffered a stroke on Tuesday and pneumonia set in Thursday that caused his death. Burial will take place Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 from the home and two o'clock from the St. John's Evangelical church at Newtonburg, with interment in the adjoining cemetery.

The deceased was born in 1864 in Posen, Germany and came to his country with his parents at an early age. They settled in Newton where Mr. Sonnenburg has since resided. He was first married to Bertha Ristow who died 33 years ago. He married again and his widow, who was Augusta Haselow survives him with seven children. They are, Mrs. Martin Hacker, Valders; Mrs. Ernst Rusch, Mrs. George Drummer and Walter of this city; Emil of Cato, Helmuth and Marvin of Newton. One brother, of Sheboygan, a sister. Mrs. Carl Waack of Route 4, Manitowoc, and eleven grandchildren also survive.
