Mrs. Katherine Angelo, 97 years old former St. Louisan, died Tuesday at the home of a son, August Angelo, in Jefferson City, according to word received by relatives here. A resident of St. Louis for more than seventy five years, she had moved to Jefferson City after the death here of a son, District Fire Chief John A. Angelo in June 1938.

A native of Germany, Mrs. Angelo, the former Miss Katherine Rupp, was brought to the United States at the age of 3. Her family moved to St. Louis after living in several eastern cities. During the Civil War her mother succumbed to cholera, while two brothers served in the Union Army.

Mrs. Angelo was married twice. Both her husbands, Nicholas Balchrist and Michael Angelo, were river pilots and both met their deaths in steamboat disasters.

Survivors, in addition to August Angelo, include nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services were to be held in Jefferson City today.
