Paul Robert Brand of Belmar passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 24 at Jersey University Medical Center in Neptune. He was 85 years old. Bob was a police officer in Belmar for 28 years from 1952 to 1980. He had a second career working for the Garden State Parkway Authority as a toll collector. Bob was a Fireman for over 64 years with the Belmar Fire Department Volunteer Hook and Ladder Fire House. He was the former Chief of the Belmar Fire Department and current president of the Belmar Fire Department Association.He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church,9th Ave. Bob was a proud Navy Veteran of WWII who made the transatlantic crossing 17 times during the war and served on a naval vessel that bombed Omaha Beach during the D Day Invasion. He landed on Omaha Beach on the second day of the invasion. Bob was born in Spring Lake and was a lifelong resident of Belmar.

Bob is predeceased by his wife Catherine Johnson Brand and his daughter Catherine Barbara Waters. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Ellen Weaver of Neptune City, and Patricia Hurley and her husband Brian of Wall Twp. and his son Paul Robert Brand Jr of Belmar, his grandchildren, Benjamin Waters IV and his wife Paula of Lake Como, Michael Ford of Belmar, and Madison Brand of Belmar, and three great granddaughters, Samantha, Nicole, and Allison Waters. He is also survived by his brother Donald,Belmar and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service Wednesday November 30, at 10:30 am at the Reilly Funeral Home 801 D Street, Belmar NJ. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Committal will be at Monmouth Memorial Park in Tinton Falls. Bob wanted his devotion and commitment to the community to continue through Michaels work with children. He encourages everyone to donate, in lieu of flowers,to Autisimspeaks.org
