COMMERCE - Graveside services for Mattie Lou McClurg, 102, of Commerce will be in Old Concord Cemetery Wednesday at 11 a.m. Dr. D.D. Sumrall Jr. will officiate.
She died Sunday evening at her residence. Born Dec. 4, 1889, in Pulaski, Tenn., she was the daughter of James Thomas and Jennie Lou Hasten McKinney. On May 27, 1906, she married Sam Dodson; he preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 1935. She later married C.W. McClurg in January 1953; he preceded her in death on April 11, 1963.
Mrs. McClurg was a supervisor of the Governmental Sewing Room in Celeste, a tailor at Majors Field and Veterans Hospital, last charter member of the Greenville Rebekah Lodge No. 144, and member of First Baptist Church of Greenville.
Survivors include a daughter, Loraine Story of Greenville; six stepchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. McClurg was also preceded in death by five sisters, one brother and one granddaughter.
Services will be under the direction of Peters Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
