CANTON, Ohio - William V. Burkett, 65, of Canton, formerly of Frostburg, died Sunday, May 11, 1997, at his home following an extended illness.
Born Sept. 4, 1931, in Frostburg, Md., he was the son of the late William Carl and Ethel (Long) Burkett. He also was preceded in death by three brothers.
Mr. Burkett had been a resident of Canton since 1941. He was a retired employee of Aultman Hospital, retiring in 1993 after 20 years of service. He attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Mr. Burkett was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret A. (Hotchkiss) Burkett, to whom he was married for 41 years; two daughters, Carla A. Gram and husband Jeffrey, Canton, and Rose M. Rennie and husband Kenneth, Carrollton; two sisters, Ruth Alexander, Canton, and Shirley Piccari, Canton; and three grandchildren, Donald, Alan, and Alex.
Friends will be received at the Reed Funeral Home, 705 Raff Road SW, Canton, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Father Frank A. Carfagna officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Hills.
