She was born Oct. 16, 1930, in Orma, Calhoun County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Theodore and Opal Wears Parsons.
She attended Big Tygart United Methodist Church, Mineral Wells, and she was a 1948 graduate of St. Marys High School. Her hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping and anything outdoors.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Norman "Dob" Mayfield; sons, Richard and his wife, Linda, Ronald and his wife, Dodie, Mark and his wife, Margie, Jeff and his wife, Barb, and Tim and his wife, Anita; brothers, Nolan Parsons, Dean Parsons and his wife, Lora Nita, and Randy Parsons and his wife, Gladys; sisters, Glenola Woodward and Pam Howard; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant brothers.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, with Pastor Chuck Ferrell officiating. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery, West Union, W.Va. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
