Second of ten children of James Henry Becroft Sr and Mary Jane Whittaker. She married John William Burbidge about 1877. They had five children and settled in Meriden, CT. Mary Elizabeth (Miller), Bertha Rosena (Knapp), Charles Henry, Edith Madeline (Burt) and Ethel Isabel (Miller).

Although her parents lived in NYC at the time, Emma was born in Wallingford, CT as I found her birth record there with no first name.
