William (Billy) Whitson Jobe was born May 1, 1942 in Fayette County, Kentucky to Douglas and Mildred Virginia Stivers Jobe.

The Jobes moved to Clintonville, Bourbon County, Kentucky and Billy attended schools in Bourbon County. He also played baseball for a church league in Clintonville. He was a member of Clintonville Christian Church.

I met Billy when his mother was the ticket seller/taker at the swimming pool at Joyland Park on Paris Pike in Lexington, Kentucky around 1958-1959. We often had the entire pool to ourselves when the weather was rainy.

Billy enlisted in the United States Army in 1960 and trained at Fort Riley, Kansas. Then he was sent to Hawaii in 1962. Around 1965 to 1967 he was stationed at Fort Rucker in Daleville, Dale County, Alabama.

Spec. 4 Jobe married his wife Brenda Sue and they had a daughter, Tamara Diane Jobe.

On Thursday, February 28, 1968 at the age of 25, Specialist Fourth Class William Whitson Jobe was suddenly taken ill and died shortly thereafter at the Fort Rucker Hospital.

In addition to his wife and daughter, Daleville, Alabama, Billy was survived by his mother, Mildred Virginia Stivers Jobe of Clintonville, Kentucky; his father, Doublas Jobe, Bourbon County, Kentucky; a brother, Robert Jobe, Decatur, Georgia; and a sister, Mrs. Lucy Todd, Bourbon County, Kentucky.

Spec. Jobe's body was brought to the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home in Paris, Kentucky. Visitation was Sunday, March 3, 1968. Services Monday, March 4 with burial in the Clintonville Cemetery, Clintonville, Kentucky.
