A memorial service for former Dayton resident Cletus W. Johnson of Lake Oswego will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Heritage House, 398 10th St., Lake Oswego. Interment will be private.

Mr. Johnson died Jan. 15, 2003, in Lake Oswego. He was 91.

He was born June 25, 1911, in Almena, Kan., the son of Ray David and Ella Mae Thompson Johnson. He moved with his family to Dayton in 1924. He graduated from Dayton High School.

He and Ruthe C. Wanner were married April 7, 1934, in Vancouver, Wash.

He worked his way up from lineman to management with Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone. He worked in management in various Portland divisions and was plant manager in The Dalles from 1962 to 1975, when he retired. He then moved to Lake Oswego.

He was preceded in death by his first wife in 1987.

He and Adele Stejr were married Jan. 21, 1989, in Lake Oswego.

Mr. Johnson was past president of the Oregon Telephone Pioneers. He was a charter member of the Beaverton Elks. He belonged to the Waluga Masonic Lodge and the Senior Citizen Center, both in Lake Oswego.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carolyn Bergeron of Portland; a stepdaughter, Adele Jones of Lake Oswego; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by a sister, Lola Christenson, in 1990.
