Ada was the daughter of Henry Terrell Noland and Mary Ann Jane Pace Noland. Her unique middle name was likely because her father was a "literary teacher" in the 19th century when Lord Byron was very popular in the South.

She married John Henderson McLarty in 1879 and was the mother of five children: Rosa Beatrice, Margaret Effie, Claude, Flora Bell, and Eugene.

In the 1890s she was post-mistress in Winston, Georgia.

She died in October 1942 at Crawford W. Long Hospital in Atlanta.
