Brummitt, Sheila Yvonne, 71, of Big Stone Gap, VA, went to be with her Lord on Monday (November 28, 2011) at Lonesome Pine Hospital.
She was born in Derby, VA and lived most of her life in Big Stone Gap. She was a loving wife and mother. In her earlier years, Sheila worked for Monroe Thrower Accounting and South-West Insurance Agency, and later, she, along with her husband, owned and operated Brummitt Decorating, Paint and Wallpaper in East Stone Gap and Big Stone Gap. She was of Methodist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, James Roy Brummitt, Jr.; her parents, Frank E. and Rebecca Ruth (Cope) Morelock; and a brother, Frank T. Morelock.
Surviving are her two daughters, Kimberly Y. Wells and husband, Lemuel Wells of Appalachia, VA, and Kellie R. Carter and husband, David Carter of Big Stone Gap; nephew, Kolan Morelock of Lexington, KY; cousin, Colleen Wallace of Big Stone Gap; brother-in-law, Walter Brummitt of Big Stone Gap; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the Lonesome Pine Hospital and Friendship Home Medical staffs for their extraordinary care for the past seven years.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Ken Sprinkle officiating.
Entombment services will follow in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be: Morgan Legg, Jr., Ryan Witt, David Carter, Lemuel Wells, Tony Nunley and Norman Clifton. Honorary pallbearer will be: Jim Rutherford.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the East Stone Gap United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 186, East Stone Gap, VA 24246, to be distributed to various charitable organizations by the family.
