obit: Arlene Cozart's Obit collection Willey Newton Byard, 75 died at his home in Smithfield on Thursday, May 10th. He was a retired farmer. born in Wetzel county September 15th, 1875. He was a son of Allen and Rachel Willey Byard. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Jacksonburg.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Della Byard; three sons, Howard Oscar and Herman Byard; three daughters, Mrs Rachel Hatcher, Mrs. Mary Jane Morris and Miss Elizabeth Byard, all of Smithfield, and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the home of Henry Hatcher in Smithfield on Sunday, May 13, at 3:00 p.m. by Rev. Pat Gibbons of Pine Grove, with burial in the Bates cemetery by the Palmer funeral home.
