U.S. Congressman. Born in New Market, Ohio, he graduated from Augusta College Kentucky in 1830, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1833 and commenced the practice of law in Hillsboro, Ohio. He was a member of the Ohio State House of Representatives, (1837-38). In 1851, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-second Congress, serving until 1853. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 75 in Hillsboro, Ohio.
