Mrs. Esther E. Abbey passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 12, 1980. Age 85 years. Esther E. Lynch was born June 12, 1894, in Saginaw and had resided here all of her life. She was married to Amos Abbey who passed away May 7, 1933. She was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church and the Saginaw County League of Catholic Women. She retired in 1960 from the Saginaw Community Hospital. Surviving are one son and one daughter, Mrs. Erwin (Camilla) Porath and Edward Abbey, both of Saginaw; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Betty) Carmody, Owosso; Miss Ann Lynch, Saginaw. A sister, Sister Mary Theodosia, R.S.M., passed away the same day.
Funeral service will take place 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the McIntyre Chapel, 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Rev. Gary Campbell will officiate with burial in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday where they will meet with relatives at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday for a prayer service. Those who so desire may make memorials to St. Stephen's Church Building Fund.
