Lenora Ann (Chenault) Atchison, age 67, passed from this life on November 30, 2011 at Muskogee. She was born October 18, 1944 at Elida, NM, the second daughter of Alton Darrel and Mabelle (Martin) Chenault. She graduated from Central High School in Muskogee in 1962 and on December 15 of that year married Samuel Mack Atchison in Stigler, OK. Sam's unit in the USAF Reserve was activated due to the Cuban Crisis and the young couple therefore spent the first eight months of marriage in Alexandria, LA, at England Air Force Base. Upon returning home they lived and worked in the Tulsa area until after the birth of their first son. At that time they moved back to Muskogee and remained in that area until the purchase of their home in rural Okay. Lenora furthered her education by studying for, taking and passing the two day, six part test to become a Certified Professional Secretary in 1977. In 2000 her health forced her to retire from the U. S. Probation Office in Muskogee where she had worked over the past eighteen and one half years working her way up to Chief Clerk. She loved her work there and continued to miss it terribly. Mrs. Atchison was an avid fan of her sons and grandchildren's athletic abilities as well as their musical talent. She supported all their endeavors in anyway she could. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ from an early age. Lenora was preceded in death by her loving parents and grandparents. She is survived by her husband of the home; two sons, Darrel Mack Atchison and his wife, Tammy, of Okay, and David Wayne Atchison and wife, Desiree, of Okay, OK; one sister, Patricia Brooks Martin and husband, Belvie, of Muskogee; two grandchildren, Samantha Atchison of Wagoner, OK, and Matthew Atchison of Edmond, OK. Pallbearers will be nephews: Dale Martin, Dean Martin, Sam McDaniel, Tom McDaniel, Brad McDaniel, and Glen Loftis. Honorary pallbearer will be Darrel "Matthew" Atchison. Services will be at Chandler Road Church of Christ at 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 5, 2011 with Donnie Branscum officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home in Muskogee.
