The youngest of five children and fourth son born to Philip and Mary Wilde, Vernon "Bubs" Wilde married Virginia Engle in 1937. They became the parents of four sons, Vernon, James, Terry and Dennis.

A widower with four young sons, in 1952 he married Mary Willecke (Freund) a widow with two children, Frederick "Fritzi" and Patricia. They made their home in Oakville, MO on Yaeger Road.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by his sister Lillian M. Anslinger, brothers Paul Philip, Kenneth Fred and Elmer J. Wilde.

He served in the Army during WWII and was discharged December 14, 1945.

He retired as a floor layer in 1977.

He was survived by his children Vernon (Pat) Wilde, James (Janet) Wilde, Terry (Linda) Wilde, Dennis (Pat) Wilde, Frederick (Estrella) Willecke and Patricia (Charles) Corrigan.

He was also survived by seventeen grandchildren, Michael Wilde, John Wilde, Michelle Wilde, Larry Wilde, Nina Wilde, Sandra Wilde, Virginia Wilde, Lori Wilde, Diana Wilde, Terry Wilde, Jr., Christina Wilde, David Wilde, Kevin Wilde, April Wilde, Alfredo Willecke, Charles Corrigan and JoAnn Corrigan.

There are many great-grandchildren and at this time six great-great-grandchildren.

He enjoyed his family and was loved and is missed.
