Jesus said to the woman; "I AM the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, yet shall he shall live. Whosoever lives and believes in Me shall never die"!

Rebecca A. Smith, was the 7th child born to James Ralph SMith
(1881-1940) and Mary Magnolia Smith (1886-1949). She was born in the family residence, 235 S. 12th St. in Terre Haute.

After graduating from Wiley High School in Terre Haute, Indiana, she married Raymond Harold Mathews December 29, 1950 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana.

Seven children blessed their union:
Stephen R.
Pamela A.
Stanley L.
Penny G.
Paula J.
Randy W.
Timothy B.
Mom almost never worked outside of the home, but worked very hard at raising her family and keeping the home.

Mom dealt with many health issues, including heart problems. During the graveside funeral of her husband and our dad, she suffered from congestive heart failure and was taken to the hospital where she was a patient for a number of days.
Despite dealing with numerous health concerns and problems most of her life, this time, she was unable to recover and died in her sleep at home about six months following Dad's death.

"See You In The Morning" engraved on the stone is what Mom and Dad would say to one another each night before they retired for the evening. Dad, confined to the hospital bed in the living room, and mom would go to her room.
She would get up several times during the night though to check on dad-- making sure he wasn't in need of anything.

"See You In The Morning" has a new meaning today.

After mom and dad married, Dad's employment took the family to Tucson, Arizona for a number of years, and evenutually, further west to Pacific Grove California and Marina California before returning to Indiana.

As Mom's health would allow, she willingly took on opportunities of service in churches where both Mom and Dad served God in the many opportunities offered to them. As a teacher at what was once known asTemple Baptist Church in Terre Haute, Indiana also at North Tucson Baptist Church and at Wetmore Baptist Church in Tucson. Also at First Southern Baptist in Marina, Califonia. When returning to Indiana, she served at South Side Baptist Church in South Bend,Indiana.
