Large Number of Former Neighbors and Friends Attend – Lived in Canada
Madelia – The remains of Marshall Donnelly were brought here, Monday from Mankato for burial. The services were held in his old church, the Methodist. Rev. J.W. Bostrom officiated. Burial was at the Madelia Cemetery.
Mr. Donnelly was visiting his daughter, Mrs. Koegan, of Mankato and he spent a few days last week visiting friends and relatives in Madelia. He returned to Mankato. He was taken ill at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Will Koegan, with a severe cold. He was up and around Thursday, but in the evening complained of not feeling so well. At midnight he was unconscious and death came at 5 o'clock Friday evening.
Mr. Donnelly was 83 years old. He was born in Toronto, Canada, Feb. 14, 1843. He came to Winona County and lived on a farm. There he met and married Rachel Williams, 60 years ago. They lived on a farm there for a few years and then in 1870 came to Watonwan County, settling on a farm in Antrim Township, near Lewisville. He remained here until 25 years ago when he went to Alberta, Canada, and took up a farm near Edmonton. For the last few years he has been building roads for the government.
Mr. Donnelly leaves several children, one of whom is Mrs. Koegan of Mankato. Others live in the west. He leaves a brother, William, of Stockton, Minnesota.
