George Dean, CMSgt USAF, 71 years old, father extraordinaire and loving husband, heard the trumpets sound February 8, 2003 as the King came through the gates to welcome him home. While we were crying, heaven was celebrating and we could hear dad saying, "The King is coming, Praise God he is coming for me". Happy faces lined Heaven's hallways as Tia, James Jr., his mother and father Grace and Carl, Odessa, Bill and Donnie Clark, Floyd Dowd, Dennis Wehr, Grandma Clarice and the many souls he led to the Lord wait for him. The King is coming, I hear the Chariots rumble, I can see the marching Angels, and the flurry of Gods trumpets spells the end of suffering and pain. The royal robes are now unfolding and heaven's grand stands all in place; Heavens choir is now assembled to sing Amazing Grace. The King is coming, Praise God, He is taking him home. Look around you Dad for great are your rewards. George spent his time on earth praising the Lord. He was born in Lewis, Kansas on March 31, 1931. He spent his youth busting steers and driving wheat trucks. He spent 23 years in the Air Force working first as a gunner on B-29's and as a boom operator on KC 135's and then in Flight Line Operations. He served in Vietnam and was always proud to wear his uniform and serve his country. He retired as a Post Master for the USPS. George worked as a volunteer for H ARC and spent many Christmas's as Santa for the children there. He was always the first one to welcome a new neighbor and lend a hand. He could always be counted upon to set the standard. He was always our "John Wayne". George leaves his wife of 50 years, Sylvia Holsinger Hill; and eight children, Victoria Gasque and husband, Brad, George Hill and wife, Robin, Clarice Harrigan and husband, Jim, Dennis Hill and wife, Kelly, Timothy Hill and wife, Robyn, Robert Hill and wife, Heather, Joel Hill and Mandi Hill; also a daughter of his heart, Jan Burch. He left 15 grandchildren. He had three great grandchildren. He also leaves three sisters, Ruth (Abbott) Clark, Connie (Hill)Dowd and Maxine (Abbott) Wehr; and one brother, John Hill. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2003 at Myrtle Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please take this opportunity to call your father and tell him you love him.
