Mr. Stephen B. New, 74, of East Flora Street, Tampa, Florida, passed away Saturday afternoon. A native of Washington County, Georgia, Mr. New had resided in Tampa for 52 years. He was a member and deacon of the East Chelsea Baptist Church, an active member of the Vidalia. Georgia Masonic Lodge 330 F&AM for the past 48 years, a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of America, and in 1969, he retired from the Atlantic Coast Line-Seaboard Coast Line after 42 years of service. Survivors include his wife. Mrs. Evelyn Marie New, Tampa, Florida; 1 son, Mr. Stephen R. New. Friendswood, Texas; 1 daughter, Mrs. Judith Elaine Rice, Seminole, Fla.: 4 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs. Ruth McWatty, Savannah, Ga., Mrs. Daisy Russell, Tampa, Florida, and Mrs. Martha Jane Rogers, Auburndale, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
