Following the divorce of his parents, Vernon (Jack), his mother and his brother, Hugh Phillip Sirman, were in the household of his maternal grandmother, Mollie E. Sheffield, in Harris County, Texas.
Jack's mother, Sue, married James Thomas Roberts on January 7, 1920, in Harris County, Texas. The family seemed to live busy, traditional lives in Houston where they lived 5 blocks away from the his Uncle Joseph Roberts and other extended family. This was a very close, devoted family. James T. loved and cared for the boys as his own sons.
Jack Sirman married Gladys Margaret Wells before WW II. There were 2 daughters of this marriage. They always called their father "Daddy Jack".
Jack Sirman enlisted in the United States Army on November 18, 1940, age 24, as a Private First Class and advanced to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Vernon served his country with honor and was awarded a Purple Heart for his bravery.
Vernon Elmer Sirman married Alma Mary Casso and there were 6 children of this marriage.
Vernon Elmer "Jack" Sirman and his wife, Lupe, lived in El Indio, Maverick County, Texas, where he died at the age of 81. He is buried near his parents, his brother and other family members in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery Houston, Harris County, Texas.
