Frank Joseph was born July 8, 1945, in Winona to Frank Sr. and Helen (Braatz) Kunda.
In November 1965, he married Mary Leahy and together they had five children. They were later divorced.
He was also formerly married to Willa Masters. He was a member of Union 1056, Eau Claire, Wis., and was a carpenter and millwright. For 20 years, he was employed at Modern Crane, Onalaska, Wis.
Sonny was an avid hunter and fisherman. The Mississippi River will miss him, we will miss him, but the fish will feel safer.
Sonny is survived by five children, Scott (Sheila) Kunda, Brian (Barb) Kunda, Tim (Shelley Berg) Kunda, Amy (Tim Peterson) Kunda, and Brittany Hawley; five grandchildren, Tanya, Kayla, Alexis, Kelsey, and Nikoli; two stepgrandchildren, Shawn and Wayne; two sisters, Judy (Neil) Johnson and Patricia Kunda; his devoted girl friend, Becky Gibson; and other relatives including his faithful dog "Oreo."
He was preceded in death by his parents; a four year old son, Thomas Kunda; and a brother, David Kunda.
Services to remember Sonny will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona, with the Rev. Vernon Kettner officiating.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
