He was retired from the Department of Highways and as a carpenter. He was a member of Sutton Baptist Church, the Masons, and the VFW. A 65 year resident of Braxton County, he was a native of Webster County. He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving: wife, Ollie Jones Hammack; daughter, Mrs. Euna Lee Singleton, of Sutton; sisters, Mrs. Elsie Carr of Sutton, Mrs. Delta Ellis of Conneaut, Ohio; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Service was on Friday at 1 pm, in the Sutton Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Hambel and the Rev. Richard Sargent officiating.
Burial was in the Sutton Cemetery. Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton was in charge of arrangements.
