Michael K. "Ike" Laydon age 60 of Nashua died Friday evening, December 2, 2011, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at St. John United Church of Christ – Pleasant Hill, rural Nashua with Pastor Linda Myren officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may greet the family 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2011, at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Michael Keith "Ike" Laydon was born May 14, 1951, in Waverly, IA, the son of Roger and Verdene (Hartman) Laydon. He received his education in Nashua and was a graduate of the Nashua High School in 1969. He then enlisted in the United States Army having served in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1971. On June 21, 1980, on the Laydon family farm southeast of Nashua, he married Beth Barrett. To this union two children were born. Ike worked at Hydro-tile in Nashua until the plant closed. He then worked in various other positions until being diagnosed with cancer in 2004. Ike loved going to auctions, fishing, listening to music and his dog, 'Sara'. He especially enjoyed time with his family and five grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Beth; one son, Justin Laydon of Nashua; one daughter, Jenifer (Andy) Hauser of Clarksville; his mother, Verdene Laydon of Horton; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hauser, Abbigale Hauser, Zachary Hauser, Halie Laydon and Ryder Laydon; two brothers, Gary Laydon of Plainfield, Richard Laydon of Chetek, WI.

He was preceded in death by his father and a granddaughter, Faith Ann Hauser.
