Geneva Ruth Buchanan, 81, widow of Ellis Ray Buchanan Sr., died on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 at her home. She was born in Nicholas County on Sept. 28, 1929, daughter of the late Guy and Mary Catherine Williams Dwelly, was a graduate of Nicholas County High School and a retired Hansley Mill seamstress. She is survived by three sons: Keith Buchanan and wife, Karin, of Millersburg, Ronald Buchanan and wife, Charlotte, of Bourbon County, and Darryl Buchanan and wife, Connie, of Nicholas County; a stepdaughter, Mary Ann Grant and husband, Wayne, of Paris; three sisters: Ruby Johnson of Florida, Dena Combs and husband, Raymond, of Jackson, Kentucky, and Velma Dwelly of Millersburg; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters; two brothers; and a stepson, Ellis Ray Buchanan Jr. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. On Wednesday, Jan. 5, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Hospice Chaplain David Holden with burial in the Millersburg Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Keith Buchanan, Ronald Buchanan, Darryl Buchanan, Brian Buchanan, Chris Buchanan, and Frankie Buchanan. Honorary bearers will be Al "Buddy" Wade, Johnny Combs, Raymond Guy Combs, Marion Stivers, Raymond Combs Sr., John Hendrix, Jim Wagoner, and Butch Jordan. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
