Friday morning V.O. Holcomb of Jordan received a message from Woodville, Ohio, stating that his mother, Mrs. C.R.Holcomb, who with her husband and gone to that state to visit relatives, had been suddenly stricken with apoplexy and that her condition was critical. Virge left on the noon train, but his mother had expired before he reached her. The remains were brought to Boone accompanied by her husband and son, arriving here Monday morning, and were taken to the family home at 1123 West Second street. The funeral services were held from the home at 10:00 o’clock Tuesday morning.
Miss Louise R. Wilbur was born in Mecca, Trumbull county, Ohio, February 12, 1845. Don December 21, 1864, she was united in marriage to C.R. Holcomb and in 1869 they came to Boone county and settled on the old homestead in Jackson township east of Jordan. For the past fifteen years they have resided in this city. Besides her aged husband she is survived by one son, V.O. Holcomb, and one sister, Mrs. Julia Griffee, two brothers, J.K. Wilbur of Long Beach California, and A.E. Wilbur of San Gabriel California.
Rev. A. L. Golden pastor of the Marion street M.E. church officiating, music being furnished by the ladies quartette of the church and the remains laid to rest in East Linwood cemetery.
