Edward Baber, age 87, of Fostoria, MI passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Brian's House of Davison, MI with his loving family at his side. Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Fostoria United Methodist Church in Fostoria, MI with Pastor Kay Leitelt officiating. The family will receive visitors 2 – 8 P.M. Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the Avram Funeral Home in Mayville, MI and 12 Noon until time of the service Wednesday at the church. Burial will take place at Watertown Township Cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by Otter Lake VFW Post #2409, Mayville American Legion Post #181, and Mayville/Vassar VFW Post #10884. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund. Edward was born March 7, 1924 in Detroit, MI, the son of Peter and Hedwig (Galda) Baber. He attended Mayville High School, and married Martha Patterson at Fostoria United Methodist Church April 30, 1949. Edward was in the United States Army and a veteran of World War II. He retired from Buick Motor Division in 1982. Edward attended Fostoria United Methodist Church and was a member of Mayville Eagles #4099, Odd Fellows Fostoria Lodge 22 IOOF, and Otter Lake VFW Post #2409. He loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed hunting, gardening, picking morel mushrooms, working on his tractor, Tiger baseball, and having coffee with the regulars. Edward is survived by five children; Virginia (Orland) Harrington of Fostoria, MI, Sandy Main of Petosky, MI, Mike (Cathy) Baber of Fostoria, MI, Patti (Bill) Frenzel of Fostoria, MI, Brian (Jean) Baber of Mayville, MI, two sisters; Dorothy Rose of Clio, MI, Mary Ann (Ronald) Lyden of Mt. Morris, MI, two sister-laws; Delores Baber of Warren, MI, Marilyn Baber Szymanski of Lapeer, MI, one brother-in-law; Ajay Hewitt of Fostoria, MI, ten grand children, twelve great grand children, many nieces, nephews, and special friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha, daughter at birth; Linda, son; David, three brothers Joseph, Leo, and Bernard Baber, one sister; Doris Hewitt, and son-in-law; Rodney Main.
