Harold C. Tyger, 81, Rochester Mills, passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at Saint Andrews Village in Indiana.

He was born Dec. 29, 1929, in Canoe Township, Indiana, County, a son of the late Glade Tyger and Hazel (Crawford) Tyger.

Dec. 27, 1952, he married Ruby E. (Wagner) Tyger, who survives, of Rochester Mills.

Mr. Tyger served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He also served two years with the Punxsutawney Branch of the National Guard.

He was employed by the Marion Center School District and Liggett Gas & Oil before his retirement, and also Canoe Township supervisors.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a son, Robert Tyger and wife Sandy of Marion Center; three daughters, Diane Tyger of Rochester Mills, Karen Tyger and special friend Dan Williard of Punxsutawney, and Kathy Anderson and husband Denny of Punxsutawney; three grandchildren, Daniel Tyger and wife Zita, Jessica Hennessey and husband Ryan and Kayla Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Jace and Brooke Hennessey and Zach Carter; and a sister, Barbara Sherry and husband Jim of Punxsutawney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Clarence Henderson; and a great-granddaughter; Shayla Rose Tyger.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until noon Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas McCurdy officiating.

A private interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
