Frank J. Abbott passed away Saturday at the St. Francis Home after a lingering illness. Age 88 years. He was born November 10, 1891 in Peoria, IL. He married Mary Pytlewski October 16, 1914 in Saginaw. She predeceased him July 17, 1976. He was a member of St. Helens Catholic Church, the Brotherhood of Railroad and Trainmen. Prior to his retirement in 1956 he was employed at C. & O. Railroad for thirty-eight years. He was also a master plumber and was in the heating and plumbing business with his son. Surviving are four daughters and six sons, Mrs. Carl (Margaret) Hardy, Saginaw; Mrs. Karl (Mary) Volk, El Paso, TX; Mrs. Herman (Doris) Stuedemann and Mrs. Joan Zingg, both of Saginaw; Edward J. Abbott, Freeland; Frank P., John W., Anthony E. and Michael G. Abbott, all of Saginaw; Richard T. Abbott, Lansing; twenty-six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Catherine Edelhoff, FL.
Funeral services will take place 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Deisler Brothers Funeral Home on Hemmeter and at 11:00 a.m. at St. Helens Catholic Church. Rev. Burt Gohm will officiate with burial in St. Andrews Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:00 p.m. Sunday, where the family will be present from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday and 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Monday. Those who so desire may make memorials to the St. Francis Home or St. Helens Building Fund.
