Corsicana — Mrs. Eva Janet Ward, age 84, went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011 at West Place Nursing Home in Athens with her family by her side. She was born to James Turner and Jennie Belle Chambers on April 10, 1927 in Kamalty, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George "Buddy" Richard Ward; parents, J.T. and Jennie Belle; brothers, Lavoyd and J.T. Chambers; and sisters, Irene, Sue Nell, Marjorie and June Ellen Chambers.
She is survived by her children: Dickie Ward of Corsicana, Ronnie Ward and wife Jan of Houston, Janet Farhat and husband David of Mabank, and Kathey Harrison and husband Mark of Corsicana; grandchildren, Stephen Harrison and wife Tiffany, Stuart Harrison and wife Shelly, Phillip Farhat and wife Marissa, David Farhat and wife Lisa, Suzanne Manos and husband Slade, Lesli Luther and husband Alan, Julie Whatley and husband Monty, Carrie Dils and husband David, and Andy Ward; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Brock, Bennett, Alyssa Kate, Makenna, Ford, Jack, Georgia, Drake, McCrae, Beau, Alexa, Knox and Henry. Janet is also survived by sisters Doris Koop and Edwina Field.
Janet married Buddy Ward on Nov. 15, 1945. They reared four children in Corsicana. They were married almost 46 years when Buddy lost his life to cancer in 1991.
Janet was a beautician for 37 years. She owned and operated Janet Ward's Beauty Shop in Corsicana. Following Buddy's death, Janet moved to the Pinnacle Club in Mabank. After her health declined, she moved to West Place Nursing Home in Athens.
Janet loved the Lord, and her life exemplified it. She leaves her family with a legacy of unconditional love. She will always be remembered for her love of dolls, homemade biscuits and delicious pies. Most of all she loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren affectionally referred to her as "Tutu." She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff and nurses of West Place Nursing home and Genesis Hospice. They loved Janet as their own. The family also greatly appreciates the loving care that Dr. Eckert, her physician, showed Janet. Dr. Eckert stayed with Janet until she went home to be with the Lord.
Visitation for Mrs. Ward will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Jim Barnett officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park in Corsicana. Pallbearers will be Stephen Harrison, Stuart Harrison, Phillip Farhat, David Farhat, Slade Manos, Alan Luther, Monty Whatley and David Dils.
