At the age of 72, Jesse Manning died Sept. 6, 2003 at his residence in Fernandina Beach, FL. A native of Huntsville, Ala., he had resided in Nassau County since 1994. He was a 1954 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in chemical engineering. He served his country as a lieutenant in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. He retired in 1995 from his position as maintenance superintendent for the Gilman Paper Company in St. Marys, Ga. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Columbus, Ga., and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of St. Marys, Ga.
He was predeceased by his parents Jesse and Zelma Lee Brock Manning.
Survivors, besides his wife, include his three sons, a brother, and four grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were held at Bosque-Bello Cemetery.
